Admission

The admission of students to B.Ed Special Education (MR) is done by the college after approval of the Admission Committee appointed by the University of Jammu strictly in order of merit in the qualifying examination. The eligibility criteria is 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

 

Number of Seats

The number of seats allotted for B.Ed Special Education-MR course in MIER College of Education by the University is 25. All seats are payment seats.

 

Fee / Other Charges

The candidates admitted to B.Ed Special Education (MR) Course by the University of Jammu are required to deposit fee and other charges as prescribed by the University, the details of which can be had from the University/College office at the time of admission. Fees and other charges are revised by the University from time to time. Difference in amount if any will have to be paid as and when demanded by the college authorities.

 

Scholarship

The College awards both merit and merit-cum-means Scholarships to students. The students are selected by a Committee appointed for the purpose. The students admitted against free seats quota by the University are however, excluded from this scheme.

 

Curriculum

Details of the courses:

The Syllabus and Courses of study in B.Ed. Sp. Education (MR) are as prescribed by the University from time to time and also governed by its regulations/statutes.

The B.Ed. Special Education (Mental Retardation) Course consists of two parts:
Part- I (Theory) 500 marks
Part- II (Practice of Teaching/ Practicum) 500 marks.

 

Practicum

A novel feature of the College happens to be the provision in the timetable of a daily practicum period in which workshops, seminars, discussions, demonstration teaching, team teaching, action research and other activities of outside the classroom nature are organized.

 

Uniform

Every trainee in the MIER College of Education will have to wear uniform compulsorily on specified days, special functions and during the days when Teaching Practice is on. The uniform prescribed is as follows:

GIRLS: Sea-Green Suit, Navy Blue Sweater, Navy Blue Blazer with college Colour
BOYS: White Shirt, Grey Trousers, Tie, Navy Blue Sweater, Navy Blue Blazer with College Colour.
