MIER College of Education, which has the
proud distinction of being the first
B.Ed college in the private sector in
Jammu Province, was established in the
year 1981 under Model Institute of
Education and Research (MIER), an
Autonomous, Non-Profit Making,
Non-Governmental Organization devoted to
the promotion of education, (general,
technical and professional), research,
training, social welfare and new
technologies according to the best
emerging trends. The College stands
recognized by the J&K Govt. and is
permanently affiliated to the University
of Jammu. It is recognized by the
University Grants Commission under
section 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act.
MIER College of Education emphasizes
pursuit of high ideals namely excellence
in teaching and learning, high achievement
levels, all round development of personality, self reliance,
innovation and introduction of new technologies, besides ensuring
professional growth of teachers. The College has been offering
teacher education programmes for over 25 years now and has trained
nearly 5000 trained teacher who are spread across the country doing
excellent jobs in the field of education as Nation Builders. In view
of excellent staff and physical facilities, well equipped and fully
automated library, provision for extracurricular activities, a rich
tradition of rigorous curricular transaction, ICT being a thrust
area, a 10+2 Experimental School attached to the College of
Education and above all a rich tradition of Research activities the
college is one of the reputed institutions in Northern India and
