Quality
Assurance happens to be a continuous process and pursuit of high
quality is the hallmark of progressive educational institutions. We
are proud of the fact, that on volunteering for assessment at the
hands of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the
MIER College of Education was assessed with 'A' grade by the Peer
team in April, 2006 making the it the highest ranked institution in
the private sector in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The Peer team
in its report had suggested valuable recommendations for further
improvement of the quality of instructions in the college and hoped
that in years to come, the college had the potential to emerge
amongst the top five colleges of education in the country.
As a post NAAC activity, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
was created in the college which formulated a temporal plan for
improvement in different areas in accordance with the NAAC
guidelines. After completion of one year, the annual IQAC report was
sent to the NAAC. The NAAC has appreciated the efforts made by the
college for quality improvement in terms of: - 1) Participation of
students in the feedback system 2) Use of ICT 3) Improvement in the
infrastructure facilities 4) Computerization of administrative works
5) Improvement in the library services.
For the current session, the IQAC plans of activities are in the
implementation phase. The plan highlights the following areas for
improvement, (a) use of new methods of teaching and evaluation (b)
greater use of modern information and communication technologies in
the teaching learning process by teacher trainees and teacher
educators (c) promoting research and publication of journals by the
faculty and granting incentives for the same d) publication of an
educational journal (e) improving access to e-journals and library
network (f) improving placement potential of the teacher trainees by
improving their communicative and teaching skills (g) offering
opportunities for on-campus selections (h) increasing linkages with
local schools and colleges for exchange of teachers, students and
other collaborative programmes.
It is hoped that the college would be able to show worthwhile
achievements in the above areas and march ahead on the road to
quality. The IQAC functions under the Advisory Committee having
eight members and is chaired by the Director MIER. |
