Poetic Memoir to Shrimati Shanti Gupta

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Shrimati Shanti Gupta, founder of MIER, an online poetic memoir event was organized by Smt. Shanti Gupta Centre for Women’s Studies. Director and Director CWS MIER, Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER, shared her experiences as a daughter-in-law with Shrimati Shanti Gupta and how this relationship transformed her personality. She highlighted that Shanti Guptaji was a multitalented woman who not only excelled in teaching and poetry but was also a good orator, writer and cook. Dr. Gupta told the audience that Smt. Shanti Gupta kept working towards her dream of writing poems even when initially she didn’t get support from her husband but when renowned poets like Hari Vansh Rai Banchan and Mahadevi Verma appraised her poems saying that they were like “fresh breeze,” her husband provided full support and motivated her to continue writing. Dr. Gupta shared many anecdotes of Shanti Guptaji which serve as guiding principles for empowering women.
