Elimination of Violence against women

    Smt. Shanti Gupta Centre for Women Studies (SSGCWS) and its Gender Champions Club commenced a 16-day of activism campaign on the occasion of the “International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls” on November 25, 2022. This year’s theme is “Orange the World: Unite.” The UN selected the orange colour to represent a brighter future free of violence against women. A series of events would be organized at the MIER campus in the 16-day campaign.

The students and staff joined the clarion call given by the UN with an aim to reflect, renew, amplify, and strategize to achieve commitments to eliminate violence against women by 2030. A special morning assembly was organized which included distribution of orange ribbons, coloring the campus “orange” with badges, posters and slogans. The gender champions took a pledge and posted banners related to the theme on social media account to raise awareness about this burning issue. The campaign was formally launched by Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson, MIER Group of Institutions by releasing the orange balloons along with nodal teachers, gender champions, faculty and all students.
