Symposium on Gender Equality

SPEAKER Dr. Suneeta Zalpuri

An online symposium was organized by the Smt. Shanti Gupta Centre for Women Studies (SSGCWS) MIER College of Education on the theme “Is Gender Equality possible for Women in the present World Scenario”. Dr. Suneeta Zalpuri, Professor & Head, Centre for Good Governance & Administrative Reforms, IMPARD, J&K was the chief guest. Six students from both UG and PG Department participated in the symposium and presented their views on the theme. Ms. Palak Srivastava clinched the 1st prize, Ms. Anjeshri won the 2nd prize and Ms.

Simran secured 3rd position. All the winners were from B.Ed. semester III. The Chief Guest, in her presidential address, congratulated the participants for empathetically sharing their views on the theme and said gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, thriving, and sustainable world and this could be attained through economic participation, change in attitude, equal health opportunities, political empowerment, educational equality and creating awareness regarding government schemes both in urban and rural areas. The programme was ably conducted by Mrs. Komal Sharma and Ms. Navnidhika Sharma, members SSGCWS MIER.
