The Placement Committee of MIER College of Education organized an online workshop on August 16, 2024, focused on "Resume Building" for students of Semester IV from the School of Education and B.A. Hons Psychology Semester VI from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Held at the Sh. H.L. Gupta Auditorium, this event was part of the "College to Career Programme" series. The workshop featured Mr. Ankur Singhal, Co-founder of CV Owl, as the resource person.
The workshop aimed to provide participants with valuable insights into crafting effective resumes that showcase their strengths, skills, and experiences. The session began with a warm welcome from Ms. Jyoti Sharma, Convener of the Placement Committee, followed by an introduction of the resource person by Dr. Behzad Maqbool, a committee member. He highlighted Mr. Ankur’s background in Technology and MBA, noting his dedication to helping students develop CV writing skills through an AI-based online resume builder.
Mr. Singhal emphasized the importance of a well-crafted resume as the first point of contact between a candidate and a potential employer. He offered detailed guidance on creating impactful resumes, covering sections like contact information, career objectives, educational qualifications, work experience, skills, and achievements. He also shared templates to help students make their resumes concise and effective.

The Placement Committee of MIER College of Education organized a mock interview session for students of B.Ed., B.Ed. Special and M.Ed. Semester IV of School of Education on 30th of November,11:00 am to 1.00 pm. The purpose of this event was to provide students with a simulated interview experience, allowing them to refine their interview skills, gain confidence.The panel of interviewers were Ms. Puneet Kour (Principal APS, Jammu), Mr. Promod Shrivastva (Principal Model Academy, Jammu, including Subject experts Dr. Rohnika Sharma(Prof. Special education and HOD School of Education), Mrs. Manju Wali (PGT English), Mrs. Arti Khajuria (TGT Maths), Mrs. Pooja Misra (PGT Physics and Academy Manager), Mrs. Preeti Trisal (TGT S.Sc), Ms. Samta Dogra (TGT Hindi) from Model Academy School, B.C. Road Jammu.
This session provided an opportunity for students to understand the expectations of potential employers and to learn from their peers experiences.

(2021-23 Batch) and 2 alumni participated in the drive with great enthusiasm. One student (Ms. Pooja Bhat, B.Ed. (Roll No.2102014) was selected as TGT Science with an Annual Package of 204,000 lakh per annum.

The workshop aimed to provide participants with insights into creating effective resumes that highlight their strengths, skills, and experiences and to equip them with the necessary skills to create impactful resumes. Ankur Singhal commenced the session with the significance of a resume as the first point of contact between a candidate and a potential employer. He discussed how a well-structured resume can significantly impact the selection process. He also provided an in-depth analysis of the essential sections of a resume, including contact information, career objective, educational Qualifications, work experience, skills, achievements, job description . Practical tips were shared on how to effectively present each section. He also shares the template by following which students can make their resume effective and to the point.

The Placement Committee of the college organised a workshop on the theme “Interview and Group Discussion Skills” under the “College to Career Programme” for the students of the 2021- 23 batch on the 21 st of August, 2023 Mrs Geetika Kohli, Founder of Thinksta, was the resource person of the programme. The workshop focused on enhancing the interview and group discussion skills of the students and make them market ready.

Semester IV of School of Education on the theme “Interview and group discussion skills” on 21st August 2023 under the “College to Career Programme” at Sh. H.L.Gupta Auditorium. The workshop aimed to focused on enhancing interview and group discussion skills for the students to equip them with the necessary tools to excel in the job placement process and to provide students with insights into effective communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork, which are crucial for successful interviews and group discussions. The resource person commenced the session by delivering a comprehensive presentation on interview and Group Discussion skills and key topics covered included: how to face interviews, how to introduce oneself, learning outcome contribution, frequently asked questions, body language, resume building, group discussion skills.

More than 100 students of the college took an entrance test conducted by Corporate Integrated Management Accounts ( CIMA), an organization constituted under the Vocational Education Programme of MHRD on 8th March 2020. The objective of the programme is to train students with appropriate knowledge and provide know-how in the field of Marketing, Accounting, Taxation, Finance etc. through a one-year course. CIMA would also give free laptops to selected students after completion of the course. Mr. Gopal Sharma, Relationship Officer, CIMA assured that students will be placed in Public Sector Units and Corporates with a starting salary of Rs. 30000 per month after the completion of the course.

Committee also organised a workshop on How to Prepare a Resume and conducted Mock Interview Sessions prior to the placement drive. Ms. Pooja Sharma , Ms. Surbhi Mahajan and Ms. Archana Saraf were the Panelists. Ms. Nisha Rani and Ms. Rupali Mahajan of M.Ed. were selected as PGT English with an annual Pay package of Rs. 3.25 Lakhs.
