The NSS unit of MIER College of Education, under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, observed a ‘Poshan Maah,’ by organizing an awareness program at the Anganwadi Centre in Purkhoo village. The event aimed to educate pregnant and lactating mothers on vital health and nutrition practices, emphasizing the importance of proper care during this critical period for both mother and child.
The awareness program provided an interactive platform for the mothers, encouraging their active participation.

Their enthusiasm and gratitude for the practical and easy-to-understand information highlighted the event impact on the community.
Several mothers attended the event with their infants, and the session was supported by 10 committed NSS volunteers from School of Education and School of Social Sciences and Humanities. The following students from B.Ed. Semester II discussed key topics related to health and nutrition: Ms. Hitakshi Bakshi discussed the essential nutritional components, Mr. Abhinav highlighted the importance of calorie intake and exercise, Ms. Ashiya emphasized precautions for maternal health, Ms. Avneet Kaur provided guidance on optimal nutrition, Ms. Almita Kathoch outlined critical don’ts during pregnancy, and Ms. Riya Anand shared important do’s for maintaining a healthy pregnancy. Additionally, Ms. Ayushi and Ms. Anushka from BA (Hons) English Semester II presented an overview of nutrition. The event was smoothly conducted by Ms. Damneek from B.Ed. Semester II, while Ms. Shivarti captured the event’s proceedings.
Prof Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College, praised the students for their dedication and the impactful awareness program, which were well-received by the local community. The event was organized under the guidance of NSS Program Officer Dr. Komal Sharma and member Mrs. Ayushi Grover.
