Dr. Reeta Dwivedi, NSS Programme Officer introduced the panellists to the audience and highlighted the objective of the session. Dr. Adit Gupta in his address welcomed the panellists to deliberate on an important theme. He
said that students should learn more about their relationship with the community they engage with and should refine their decision-making abilities and acquire other career-related skills. The panellists discussed their perspectives on the topic and gave suggestions for the peaceful development of the society, with a focus on integrating quality civic education throughout the
curriculum. Such measures can improve students, academic performance and other results while also fostering the long-term civic health of our democratic society. This can also help students
gain more civic knowledge, abilities, and attitudes. Speaking upon the benefits of civic engagement they elaborated that people are more likely to have strong social bonds, good self- esteem, and a strong sense of civic duty in addition to better interpersonal relationships and higher self-esteem. Civic education empowers us to be well-informed, active citizens and gives us the opportunity to change the world around us. It is a vital part of any democracy, and equips people with the knowledge about our democracy and constitutional rights and duties.
