“Plastic waste management”

The Environment Unit of MIER College of Education organized a webinar on the theme “Plastic waste management” and an awareness session on the theme “Solid Waste Management and Vermi-Composting” at the college. The event was attended by the Principal, Joint Director, HoD PG and HoD UG, as well as around 100 students of MIER College of Education. Mr. Vaibhav Arora, Karo-Sambhav Private Limited, Delhi was the resource person for the webinar.

He discussed sources and different types of plastic waste, the repercussions of the wrong disposal, and various effective management methods such as reduce, reuse, recycle, explore, and dispose. He provided many practical examples of landfills and dumpsites which are creating hazards for people living in that area. Additionally, Dr. Monika Bajaj, Deputy HoD, UG Department, conducted an awareness session on “Solid Waste Management and Vermi-Composting”, in which she familiarized students with the collection, treatment, and disposal of solid waste that has been rejected or is no longer useful.
