"World Water Day

The Environment Unit of the College in collaboration with the NSS Unit celebrated ‘World Water Day" by organizing the Clean Tawi Campaign at the banks of the Tawi river in Jammu city. The theme for World Water Day 2023 was “Accelerating the Change to Solve the Water and Sanitation Crisis”, which is in line with the targets of UN Sustainable Development Goal 6. More than 35 students from the UG Department participated in the event.

The main aim of this campaign was to raise awareness among the residents regarding pollution of water bodies due to garbage disposal and the need for preserving and conserving the Tawi river, which is a symbol of culture and heritage. In addition, the students familiarized the residents with the strategies of waste management, segregation, and disposal. They also raised alarm among locals about the repercussions of not keeping our water bodies clean and how we are depriving the future generations of this elixir. Mrs. Suman Gupta, In-charge Environment Unit, and Dr. Reeta Dwivedi, Programme officer NSS successfully organized the event.
