An awareness rally was taken out on the theme “Plastic Free City” by the Environment Unit of MIER College of Education. About 50 students from the UG and PG Departments of the college along with Dr. Monika Bajaj, Incharge, Environment Unit, MIER participated in the rally. Students carried banners highlighting information and issues regarding the use of non-degradable single-use plastic.
They tried to spread awareness regarding consequences of use of one-time plastic bags amongst the general public, fruit and vegetable vendors and interacted with the local community and shoppers en-route. The student members also distributed jute and polythene bags of 50 microns and also explained their recycling process. The students participated in the awareness rally with great enthusiasm and contributed to the greater cause of sensitizing the local vendors against the use of plastic bags. Dr Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College appreciated the efforts of the Environment Unit toward spreading the message of not using single-use plastic bags and making the city “Plastic Free”.
