One day International Conference on “Open and Digital Learning: Prospects and Challenges”

The College organized a one-day international conference on “Open and Digital Learning: Prospects and Challenges” on December 16, 2023. The event brought together prominent academicians, administrators, policymakers, and scholars from
various parts of the country to discuss innovations, trends, and challenges in the realm of open and digital learning. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic
Affairs, University of Jammu, while Prof. Ramesh Chander Sharma, Director Human Resource Development Centre, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The conference, conducted in a blended mode, attracted participants from Jammu and Kashmir as well as different parts of the country.
Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER Group of Institutions, welcomed the dignitaries, keynote speakers, paper presenters, and participants, both online and offline. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College, elaborated on the conference objectives. Eminent educationists such as Prof. Som Naidu, Principal Associate of Technology, Education and Design Associates, Melbourne, Prof. Abtar Kaur, Director of Innovative Digital Learning and the Digital Learning Hub, Asia-Pacific University of Technology and Innovation, Malaysia, Prof. Shironica Karunanayaka, Senior Professor in Educational Technology at the Open University of Sri Lanka and Honorary Chair of the Commonwealth of Learning and Prof. Morten Flate Paulsen, CEO Nordic Open Online Academy, Norway delivered keynote addresses on various aspects of open and digital learning.
Approximately 40 papers were presented during the conference, covering diverse topics related to the conference theme. Sessions were chaired by experts in the field of education, including Dr.
Jaspal Singh Warwal, Associate Professor, University of Jammu, Dr. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students Welfare, Central University of Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Kour, Associate Professor, Cluster University of Jammu and Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal GHG Khalsa College of Education, Ludhiana. The conference concluded with a Fireside Chat, moderated by Prof. Adit Gupta, featuring Dr. Jaspal Singh Warwal, Dr. Pragat Singh Garcha, and Dr. Amitash Ojha, Assistant Professor, IIT, Jammu as panelists.
