MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organised the Annual Prize Distribution Programme at its campus today. Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Director, Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER, was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College; Mrs. Rupa Gupta, Jt. Director MIER; Prof. Mool Raj, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Nishta Rana, Head SoE; Dr Monika Bajaj, Head SSSH; Dr Bharti Tandon, Deputy Head SoE; members of the administration and examination wing; faculty members, achievers and students from the School of Education and School of Social Sciences and Humanities attended the programme.
The event began with a warm welcome from Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College. He highlighted the importance of acknowledging outstanding achievements across academic, co-curricular, and research areas. Prof. Gupta introduced the Chief Guest, Prof. Sharma, who holds numerous administrative roles at the University of Jammu and is widely recognised and published internationally. He is also a member of several academic and professional organisations.
The ceremony celebrated the college’s dedication to comprehensive development and excellence. It started with the College Tarana, which the college's Rag group performed. Awards were distributed in a wide array of categories, including Student of the Year, Academic Achievement, Most Regular Student, Budding Researcher, Gender Champions, Best NSS Volunteer, Best Community Campaigner, Cocurricular Excellence, Eco-warriors, Tech Whiz, and Sports Excellence, reflecting the diverse talents and achievements of the students.
Dr Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER, spoke on occasion, congratulating and blessing the achievers and stating that MIER College is still making progress in shaping tomorrow's leaders by promoting a holistic approach to education that emphasises not only academic success but also personal development and contributions to society.
In his presidential remarks, Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma congratulated the student achievers for different awards. He emphasized that these rewards reflect the use of technology, innovation and holistic development of the students, underscoring the modern approach of MIER College. He highlighted that MIER College has effectively bridged the theory-practice divide and complimented MIER College's facilities for the utilisation of technology and innovation in addition to providing opportunities for co-curricular activities. A memento was presented to the chief guest as a token of appreciation.
Dr Reeta Dwivedi, Convener, Co-curricular Committee, presented a formal vote of thanks to the guests, achievers, faculty members and students. Dr Komal Sharma, Convener NSS Unit, conducted the entire programme. Lastly, a group photograph was taken with all the achievers, followed by a cup of tea.
