DATE Oct 18, 2024

VENUE H.L Gupta Auditorium

SPEAKER Ms. Namrata Hakhoo,

To commemorate World Animal Day, the Environment Unit of MIER College of Education organized a lecture on the theme "Animals and Environment," aimed at raising awareness about the interrelationship between animal welfare and environmental conservation on 18th October 2024. Ms. Namrata Hakhoo, Founder and Chairperson of the Hakhoo Street Animals Foundation Trust, was the resource person.
Ms. Hakhoo delivered a compelling and informative lecture, emphasizing the urgent need for the protection of animals and their natural habitats. She discussed how human activities are disrupting ecosystems and endangering species, and she encouraged the students to take responsibility for fostering harmony between humans, animals, and nature. Drawing from her extensive experience in rescuing and rehabilitating street animals, Ms. Hakhoo shared valuable insights into the challenges faced by animals, particularly those in urban environments, and the role of communities in addressing these issues. To further disseminate knowledge, pamphlets outlining practical steps for environmental conservation and animal welfare were distributed to the students. The event included an interactive session, where students engaged actively, asking questions about the challenges of animal protection and exploring ways to contribute to environmental sustainability.
A memento was presented to the resource person by Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director, as a token of respect and appreciation. The program was hosted by Ms. Ananya, a student of B.A. Hons. Psychology (Semester V), with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Aditi Mahajan, also from B.A. Hons. Psychology (Semester V). The event was organized under the guidance of Mrs. Suman Gupta, In-charge of the Environment Unit. Dr. Adit Gupta commended the unit for its efforts and acknowledged the active participation of students.
