Short Story Writing Competition

    The School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH) at MIER College of Education celebrated the art of storytelling through a Short Story Writing Competition, organized on 6th December 2024. The event aimed to provide a platform for students to express their creativity and emotions through narrative writing.
    The competition commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Palvi Mangotra, Assistant Professor of English, who set an enthusiastic tone for the event. Participants were guided by Dr. Sahil Bhagat, Assistant Professor of English, who outlined the rules and evaluation criteria to ensure a fair and transparent competition. Stories were assessed based on five key aspects: originality and creativity, plot and structure, character development, language and style, and emotional impact.
    Adding a spark to the participants’ creativity, Dr. Monika Bajaj, Head of SSSH, unveiled a picture prompt that served as the inspiration for the stories. Encouraging words from Dr. Reeta Dwivedi, Assistant Professor from the School of Education, and Ms. Jasleen Mohial, IQAC Coordinator and faculty at SSSH, motivated the participants to put forth their best efforts. A total of 17 students from various streams participated, showcasing their literary talent and imaginative skills. After an intense round of storytelling, the following winners were announced: 1st Place: Sehaj Chawla, BA Psychology, Semester 5, 2nd Place: Bhavreen Kour, BA Psychology, Semester 1 and 3rd Place: Seezal Khan, BA Psychology, Semester 1
    The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Avinash, Assistant Professor of English. Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College of Education, lauded the efforts of SSSH for organizing such a creative event, which plays a vital role in nurturing literary talent among students.
