Personality Development Workshop

DATE Dec 18, 2024

    SPEAKER Ms. Abha Choudhary

The Alumni Committee of MIER College of Education, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a transformative workshop on "Personality Development" for the School of Education (SOE) students on 17th and 18th December 2024. The workshop was led by distinguished alumna Ms. Abha Choudhary, a Master Trainer and Senior Image Consultant renowned for her expertise in personality development and leadership training.
The session commenced with a fascinating exploration of the neuroscience underlying first impressions. Ms. Choudhary explained how the brain processes initial encounters, highlighting the crucial interplay of body language, vocal tonality, and facial expressions in creating lasting positive impressions. In a dynamic application of the Johari Window model, participants engaged in introspective exercises designed to enhance self-awareness and identify personal blind spots. This innovative approach promoted meaningful peer interactions and facilitated profound self-discovery through constructive feedback.
Ms Choudhary masterfully unveiled the nine pillars of teacher leadership: knowledge, skills, behaviour, messages, perceptions, attitudes, habits, intentions, and relationships. Each dimension was brought to life through compelling real-world examples, enabling students to bridge theoretical concepts with practical teaching scenarios. The "Portrait of a Teacher Leader" activity emerged as a highlight, challenging participants to create visual manifestations of exemplary teacher leaders incorporating the nine dimensions. This collaborative exercise not only sparked creativity but also deepened the understanding of essential leadership attributes.
Addressing the contemporary challenges faced by educators, Ms. Choudhary shared invaluable strategies for effective classroom management, adapting to diverse learning needs, and maintaining optimal work-life balance. Her emphasis on resilience and positive attitude resonated strongly with the audience. Incorporating Edward de Bono's Six Thinking Hats model, the session illustrated how teacher leaders can adopt multiple perspectives: from data-driven decision-making to emotional intelligence, critical analysis, optimistic vision, innovative thinking, and strategic management. The workshop culminated with an engaging discourse on the five E's of effective teacher communication: Efficiency in delivering clear, concise messages, Effectiveness in achieving desired learning outcomes, Expression through appropriate tone and body language, Engagement in fostering active student participation and Energy in maintaining enthusiasm and passion.
Throughout the session, participants demonstrated remarkable engagement through enthusiastic participation in activities, thoughtful contributions to discussions, and meaningful reflection on the practical insights shared. The Alumni Committee and IQAC extended their heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Choudhary for delivering such an impactful and inspiring session that will undoubtedly shape the future of educational leadership.
