World Earth Day

The Environment Unit of MIER College of Education celebrated World Earth Day on April 16, 2025 with a vibrant and inspiring Eco-Friendly Art Projects/Recycled Art Competition under the theme “Planet vs Plastics.” The initiative aimed to raise awareness about plastic pollution and encourage sustainable practices through artistic expression. Open to students from the School of Education (SOE) and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH), the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 30 students who showcased their creativity and environmental consciousness through models, collages, paintings, charts, and sculptures made entirely from recycled, reusable, or biodegradable materials.
The competition was judged by Prof. Nishta Rana, Professor and Head, SOE, and Dr. Monika Bajaj, Associate Professor and Head, SSSH, who commended the artistic brilliance and powerful environmental messages of the participants. The winners of the event included Ms. Ranju Sharma, a B.Ed. Semester IV student, and Ms. Manvi Parmar, a B.Ed. Special Education Semester IV student, who were awarded the First Prize. The Second Prize was secured by Ms. Rodrigues Kessy and Ms. Akansha, both B.Ed. Semester II students. Ms. Shweta, a B.Ed. Special Education Semester II student, received the Third Prize, while Ms. Ananya, a B.A. Psychology (Hons) Semester VI student, was awarded a Consolation Prize.
Mrs. Suman Gupta, In-Charge of the Environment Unit, praised the innovative entries and the students’ deep commitment to environmental sustainability. All participants received certificates, and winners were specially felicitated.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal, MIER College of Education, congratulated the winners and applauded the Environment Unit for organizing a timely, creative, and thought-provoking event that inspires environmental responsibility. The college continues its mission to promote sustainable development through student-led initiatives and impactful awareness programs.
