Orientation regarding Open Educational Resources

The Library Committee of the MIER College of Education organized an online orientation programme regarding Open Educational Resources (OER) for the faculty members and the students of PG and UG departments.
Mr. Sunil Bhat, Chief Librarian MIER College, welcomed the faculty members and the students of the college. Mrs. Eesha Sharma, Librarian PG Department MIER College explained that OERs are teaching, learning, and research resources that are in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use or re-purposing by others. Open Educational Resources were first defined by UNESCO in 2000. She highlighted various free national and international Open Educational Resources including repositories and subject specific sites and emphasized on the OERs in India such as NPTEL, NME-ICT, e-Gyankosh, NCERT resources etc.
Mr. Sunil Bhat, Chief Librarian MIER College provided a live demonstration of the National Repository of Open Educational Resources (NROER) website which included its registration process, e-resources, discussion platform etc. Mrs. Eesha Sharma also presented a formal vote of thanks.
Dr. Adit Gupta Principal MIER College of Education appreciated the efforts of the Library committee in providing awareness about the OER’s for the students and teachers.
