Guest lecture on the theme “Various Errors in Educational Research”

The Center for Educational Research (CER) MIER College of Education organized a guest lecture on the theme “Various Errors in Educational Research”. The resource person was Prof. Kaushal Kishore, Dean and Head School of Education, Central University of South Bihar, Gaya. Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education presided over the lecture. The faculty of both UG and PG Departments along with the students of the PG Department attended the lecture.
Dr. Adit Gupta extended a warm welcome to the resource person and introduced him as an expert in the field of Educational Research, Teacher Education and Emerging Educational Trends. He further said that Prof. Kishore is a distinguished researcher and a teacher educator, who has published his work and presented both at national and international conferences.
In his lecture, Dr. Kishore comprehensively explained four different types of errors namely standard error of measurement, standard error of difference, Type 1 error in hypothesis testing, and Type II error in hypothesis testing. He opened his deliberation explaining the Central Limit Theorem as a statistical theory to relate with the topic and ease of understanding by the students. Prof. Kishore provided ample examples explaining the various errors in research and stressed on the importance of understanding their nature. At the end, he discussed framing of the hypothesis whether it is directional or non-directional and added it depends on the analysis of the review of the literature. This was followed by an interactive session where the faculty members and students clarified their doubts and queries.
Dr. Adit Gupta in his presidential remarks thanked the resource person for explaining various errors in educational research in a very comprehendible manner with examples. Further adding, he said that as researchers we should be aware of the different errors in research and their impact as they influence the credibility and output of research.
Dr. Nishta Rana, Dypt. Head PG Department and Convener CER presented a formal Vote of Thanks to the distinguished speaker and the audience.
