Professor Dr Ebba Ossiannilsson, faculty at Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand delivered a lecture on Using Open Educational Resources in Higher Education. The lecture was attended by the faculty of MIER College, the Principals and faculty members of Partner (MoU) Colleges - St. Christopher's College of Education, Chennai, GHG Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar and Smt. Kapila Khandwala College of Education, Mumbai. Dr Ossiannilsson spoke at length about the framework created by UNESCO for OER, the benefits of OER and the creation and distribution of OER. She highlighted the ten imperative dimensions of Open Education with specific focus on leadership, strategy, technology, pedagogy and quality.
She oriented the faculty about Creative Commons and how this organisation provides free licences for creators to use when making their work available to the public especially for educational purposes.
The lecture ended with a Q&A session in which the participants asked questions pertaining to models for writing OER, Open Access Publishing, types of OER and use of ChatGPT for content creation.
